AN UNUSUAL CONFRONTATION OF THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS
There will always be an unusual confrontation from the kingdom of darkness just before you see a breakthrough.
“Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”” (Matthew 8:23-25).
The storm in the sea was the unusual confrontation of the kingdom of darkness standing up in opposition because they new Jesus was coming. For the minute He stepped onto the land, He met the two men plagued by many demons. The minute there is about to be any breakthrough in the spiritual realm, there will always be an unusual activity and opposition and confrontation in the kingdom of darkness to stop it from coming to pass.
Those in the boat had been in the boat before. They had been on those seas before. They had travelled that route before. They had seen rough seas before. What they were seeing was an unusual turbulence, not of the natural, but the unnatural — the spiritual. Which was the opposition of the kingdom of darkness looming its defiance to stop the onward march of the kingdom of light breaking ground and breaking through. For the light shone in the darkness and the darkness could not overcome it.
“When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”” (Matthew 8:28-29).
The two men were set free from the torment of the demons. They had entered their breakthrough in the spiritual. But every agency of the spiritual kingdom of darkness rallied to prevent the breakthrough.
Father God, give us a greater sensitivity for the seasons and the times we are entering. That we may not only see the signs, but also understand what they mean. That having the eyes of our understanding opened, we may not miss a single breakthrough, but walk in the fullness of the liberty and life that comes with every breakthrough in Jesus and only through Jesus.
