LIVING AUTHENTICALLY
Through living and walking “in the Way, and the Truth, and the Life” that is... LOVE, God has provided a lifestyle blueprint for discovering what it means to Live Authentically! Which is to live in the fullness of the "new creation" blueprint established by Him even before the very foundations of time. Which is to be "holy and blameless in His sight." For "In love, He predestined us for adoption as His sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the Beloved One." (Ephesians 1:4-6). And through this magnanimous adoption, His aim is to fully reunite hearts and souls with the master plan for what is “living authentically”.
The "kingdom charter" or Bible is the entirely exquisite body of absolute truths and principles that operate with the minimum purpose of, firstly, fully restoring the severed umbilical man has with God. And then, from the foundation of that gloriously redemptive work, to then work His love out in all of us so that we may all "attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a complete man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ." (Ephesians 4:13). Which is to be perfect, lacking nothing (James 1:4), being without spot or wrinkle (Ephesians 5:27).
These are those priceless laws of “kingdom physics” that set the human heart and soul on a pilgrimage trajectory towards an even better than Garden-of-Eden "relationship standard” and “mode of living”. For whilst a Garden-of-Eden quality of life speaks of the glorious privilege of God walking amongst man, rather than merely the glorious lifestyle of God's "visitation" with man from time-to-time, through the Beloved One, we all get to partake of the "constant habitation" of God instead. Which is an infinitely greater level of intimacy and abiding between God and mankind.
Rather than being where we get to dwell "with" God, this is the even greater glory of when God comes to dwell "in" man and man comes to dwell "in" God. For is it not written, "That they all may be one; even as You, Father are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us." (John 17:21). Which is when the temple of man's body becomes a place for the Son of God to lay His head, and the Son goes before us to prepare a place for us in His Father's house. For is it not also written, "And I heard a loud voice from heaven, saying: "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His peoples, and God Himself will be with them as their God." (Revelation 21:3).
Which is when we all get to enter by the door of the tabernacle of meeting (Numbers 6), being all those “angels of God” who get to ascend and descend upon Jacob's ladder into the habitation of God at will. Such a quality of life can be described in no more complete a manner than one of “living authentically”. Living authentically is living in the fullness of the blueprint of “the new creation”, which is a quality of life that not only surpasses the “broken existence” that has become widely known as the moral collapse and diminished capacity of the “Fall of mankind”, but that is the full and unbridled kind of living that entirely supersedes the lifestyle of the first Adam before the Fall.
The “blueprint principle" of His kingdom physics, being the centrepiece of what it is to live authentically as a fully mature "new creation", is to above all else “pursue love”. A trademark exclamation point on the "sovereign pursuit of love" is to live AND walk in the Spirit. The "signature expression" of living and walking in the Spirit is agape love. For love is as love DOES. Loving both vertically and horizontally. In the manner and style that is the pattern and model of the Icon of The Cross. Which is to FILL our love tank through relationship with the Father, and to then POUR OUT that love tank through loving our neighbour as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). Which is so that we can all grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ (Ephesians 4:15), from which the whole body may build up itself in love (Ephesians 4:16). So just like Jesus came not to abolish the law but to FULFIL the law, that we too can fulfil all the law. For is it not written that on these two great commandments hang all the law and prophets? (Matthew 22:40).
The reason for this insistent imperative of "above all else” to pursue love is self-evident. With unshakable lucidity, God exhorts us, lest we should somehow forget, that "if you have ALL these things (including prophecy) and HAVE NOT LOVE, you have NOTHING". (1 Corinthians 13:3). This preemptory reminder sets “the pursuit of love” to be the uppermost standard of kingdom life and living authentically, and, therefore, for living and walking in the Spirit.
In both this age, and the age to come, we also, thereby, now have the appropriate context of "position and priority" for all those “other things” that the laws of kingdom physics have to richly offer. “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
The pursuit of love clearly frames and sets both the "lines of longitude and latitude" for navigating the dual call of living and walking in the Spirit. And then when man DOES then one day rise to the higher call of living and walking in the unbridled unity and union with the Spirit that is the “kingdom charter”, such will be the occasion that when that same man then turns and looks back on that day, that he will finally see, and for the first time be able to rightly say, “Aaah, so THAT’S what it means to live authentically!”
