THE TRUE NATURE OF THE FALLEN NATURE
Before the Spirit of God moves upon the face of the waters of man’s spirit, the Word of God describes those waters as being “without form and void, and that darkness was upon the face of the deep”. And is this “deep” not the same deep that God is speaking of when He says that “deep calls unto deep”? Which is the great deep of the “Jacob’s well” of His Spirit calling unto the deep of man’s spirit to come and drink its fill, that it may “never be thirsty ever again”?
And of the deep of man’s waters, does His Word not say that “darkness” was on THE FACE of the deep? Which is the antithesis of the face of the LORD. For is the face of the LORD not as a seven-fold sun? For did Moses not descend from the LORD’s mountain with his own face radiating with the glory of the countenance of the LORD? For do we not read in 1 John 1:5 that “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all”? For is it not said that light keeps no company with darkness?
And before this darkness came upon the face of man’s spirit, does the Word of God not speak of a time when man was “the image and likeness” of God? Which speaks of a time when man once walked “in the Light of His countenance”? Which is a time when the face of man was once as “the radiance of God (His image) and the exact representation of His being (His likeness)”? Which is to be as a bright star? For is it not written, “those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever”? Are these stars then not the sons of the Light? For is God not the “Father of lights” (James 1:17)? Which is to be like Father like son?
So if there was a time before when the deep of the waters of man’s spirit resembled the very face of God, which is to be of the countenance of Light, for God is light and in Him there is no darkness, how is it that the waters of man’s spirit became formless and void, and for darkness to now be on the face of the deep of man’s waters? Is this not the precise moment when the spirit of the fallen star of Lucifer was hovering above the waters of the deep in the Garden of Eden, and when the darkness of the spirit of Lucifer moved upon those waters? Which is when he moved to tempt Adam and Eve? Is this not when the spirit of darkness entered into man? And like Lucifer before, man then likewise also fell? Which is to then have lost the image and likeness of God. Which is to have fallen short of the glory of God. For have not all men fallen short of the glory of God?
For when a star falls from the sky, is its light not lost from its high hill forever? And did not the light of the “morning star” of Lucifer fall out of the high hill of the heavens never to be seen again? Which is to become darkness. And of this darkness, is this not when man then took on the nature of the one who knows no light? For is Satan not referred to as the prince of darkness? And of this darkness, is this darkness not the darkness “of the nature” itself? Which is the very nature of narcissism? For is narcissism not the dark and unhealthy and one-sided preoccupation with self? For is that not the nature of darkness? For what part of the nature of darkness has any desire or inclination to ever give anything back? For does it not keeps all to self?
And is this not why God now says we are to forever “seek His face” (2 Chronicles 7:14)? That we may “become what we behold”? Which is a face of light once again? For until we seek His face, we shall remain forever formless and void, and darkness shall forever remain on the face of our waters. For has not the Father of lights said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)? For, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14). Which is to be forever radiating outwards that our light may give light “to all who are in the house” (Matthew 5:15)?
Which, as opposed to having the fallen nature, is to instead have the divine nature. Which is the very antithesis of the nature of the one for whom darkness is forever upon his face. For as opposed to “radiating outwards” like the nature of the sun, for the continual blessing of others, the nature of Satan is perennially and forever “inward turned”, being the polar opposite of Jesus. Which is to have the nature of a black hole. Which is the nature of the “fallen star” that Satan is. For is a black hole not a collapsed star? And does it not suck everything into its own gravity well? Is it not a pit of darkness out of which no light ever emerges, a pit from which nothing that enters ever comes out? Which is the essence of narcissism? Which is the nature of the morbid self love of “me, myself and I”. Which is the very nature and root of everything that we see in the fallen world about us. Being the ills of the heart of self-centredness and selfishness and inward focus. For SUCH is the true nature of the fallen nature. SUCH is the very nature of Satan. Which is the nature to always take from you. Everything that he can. For is he not the one who comes to kill, steal and destroy? Which is to take EVERYTHING from you, for self, rather than to ever give anything of himself?
Whereas, on the other hand, Jesus is the very radiance of the sun. Being the bright “morning star”. Which is so radiant, it can be seen both by day and by night. For it is a light that shines in the darkness; and the darkness cannot overcome it! Which is a light on a high hill that cannot be hidden. Which is the nature of the One who, like the nature of the sun, is forever pouring out the essence of Himself, like the river of life that He is, and freely giving of Himself, that others may constantly receive of both the truth of His light, and the warmth of His love. For is it not written, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word.” (Hebrews 1:3). Which is to sustain and uphold all things by the light of His powerful word. For are not all things on earth upheld by the powerful light of the sun?
Which is why God tells us that, just like the sun is not covered by a basket or hidden, we are not to hide our light or put our light under a basket. “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” (Matthew 5:15). For if we are sons of the light, we are of the house of David. Which, like the nature of the sun, is to not hide or conceal the light in our hearts, nor to restrain our lips, but to tell of His goodness all day long, and to forever proclaim the good news of righteousness in the great assembly. “I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the great assembly; Indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O LORD, You Yourself know. I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great assembly.” (Psalms 40:9-10). And as for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied when I awake with Thy likeness." (Psalm 17:15).
