THE CUP OF JOY

We are so quick to hold up our own tears when it comes to our own plight and broken hearts. But what of Your tears? What of Your broken heart? For is it not written that You cry and intercede on our behalf? So, clearly then, tears are not the exclusive privilege and domain of the earth. It is plain that heaven too has known it’s fair share of tears.

I am so truly sorry for having ever hurt You, my dear Father! And as You open my eyes to see, I am grieved by the extent of the immense sorrow I have filled Your bosom to bursting with. For all the years and all the times of Your deep pain, even now.

Thank You for opening my eyes. I am beyond sorry for all the accumulative “pain upon pain” I have ever caused You, even now, as I struggle to let go of those last things in me that would seek to exalt themselves above the knowledge and ways of God. For even now there are those last things that like the folly of an already defeated foe stubbornly seek to make their last and final stand!

For all the tears that You have filled Your cup with on my behalf, my heart truly breaks, and as a child, I most earnestly and genuinely ask for Your complete forgiveness! I am so very sorry, my dear and wonderful Father! And I ask and pray that if there are to be any more tears that You are yet to still cry over me, that they only be tears of joy!

Your word says You always have the final say. So in this I ask and pray that You have the final say, that no stronghold or character or thought or behaviour shall remain standing in me that brings You tears of sorrow. And that the only thing that shall stand in the end, as the final say, are tears of great joy!

“When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it,”

(Luke 19:41)

“Jesus wept.” (John 11:35). As the shortest verse in the Bible, may that also be a sign that Your tears for us will also be short.

“But the LORD has the final word”

(Proverbs 16:1)

“Jesus has the last word on everything and everyone, from angels to armies. He's standing right alongside God, and what he says goes.“

(1 Peter 3:22 MSG)

“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof”

(Ecclesiastes 7:8)
