A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME
Is it not through the veil that we draw near? “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:19-23.
Is it not written that no one but the high priest could enter through the veil to the Holy of Holies? Which is to enter directly into the inner sanctuary of the tabernacle of the presence of God. And did this high priest not have to prepare his body for this day? And even he would only enter once a year on Yom Kippur. “But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.” Hebrews 9:7.
And does it not say that we enter the presence of God through the veil of His flesh? “by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh”? And when His body was torn, is it not said that from His side poured blood and water? And is it not through this blood and water that we have “our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water”?
And just like the bride of the first Adam was prepared from his rib, are we not the body and bride that the last Adam prepares from the pure blood and pure water that flows from His rib? And is the rib not close to the heart? Is this not the high call for His body and bride to draw near to His heart? And has He not promised that if we draw near to Him that He will draw near to us? And is it not written: “He who promised is faithful”?
And have we not read that He is faithful elsewhere in the great volume of the Book of Life? For is it not written: “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24.
And if our whole spirit, soul and body is blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, does this not represent a body that has been returned to a pristine state? And was it not on Yom Kippur that the high priest entered once a year behind the veil? For during Yom Kippur, is it not the case that you can't eat, drink, work, or drive, among other prohibitions. Refraining from these activities symbolically represents a return to the pristine state.
Are we not the pristine body that He who is faithful and He who will do it is preparing for Himself? That we may forever enter into the presence of our LORD? “Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me.” Hebrews 10:5. Which is to be a body entirely without spot or wrinkle?
Prepare Your body please LORD. Perfect that which concerns us. Psalm 138:8. That at the coming of the LORD, we may be entirely blameless, without spot or wrinkle, being perfect, lacking nothing. James 1:4. For “one thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.“ Psalm 27:4.
