WHAT WAS HEARD, SEEN AND TOUCHED
God allows us to experience His fellowship in three ways.
By hearing, seeing and touching.
What a privilege!
When the LORD does anything in “threes”, you know He is being especially thorough so that there is absolutely no room for doubt. You know He means business. He is making a deliberate and intentional point. He is emphasising something for our good.
We are all called to be witnesses to the love of God shed abroad in our hearts. Which is to be a witness to “the nature” of the Son - being the Word made flesh - and “the power” of the Holy Spirit, being “the attributes” of the perfect love of the Father that we can all hear, see and touch.
“...but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8).
When one has heard and seen and touched perfect love, it’s very difficult to deny its truth and reality. At the same time, when we hear and see and touch His perfect love, we become an unshakeable witness, a witness of conviction and power.
When it comes to being a witness, God says: “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” (I John 5:7).
God allows us to experience His fellowship in three ways - by hearing, by seeing and by touching - that we may be a witness on the earth. Just like the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit are a witness in heaven.
What an incredible God we serve and love. There is none like You, Father! And these things He allows that our joy may be full. And what better place to witness to the love of God than out of pure joy?
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life — the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us — that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.” (I John 1:1-4)
