LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU

Call no one rabbi and no one father. (Matthew 23:8-9). What Jesus was referring to here was for man to reject the religious system and false social hierarchy of both the Jewish order as well as the Roman order. For what else other than “rabbi” was the preferred title of the Jewish religious aristocracy? And what else besides “father” is the preferred title of the aristocracy of the Roman religious order? For has God not said that there is one body and one head? Does this not tell us that all are equal in the eyes of God? That there is only one aristocracy and that is God Himself the head? For in the natural, do the parts of the body wage war for who has ascendancy and status over each other? No. So why then should the pattern of the spiritual body be any different? By decreeing that man shall call no one rabbi, and that man should call no one father, Jesus was making a preemptive strike against the ugliness of pride in man. For pride is the blemish, the spot, the wrinkle, the character weakness that led to the fall of Lucifer and Adam, and every man since then. For in desiring that other men exalt and place man above their station in a social hierarchy of supremacy above others, what else but the beating voice of Lucifer is speaking therein? For if we are sons and daughters of the Most High, we are to pattern ourselves after the type and similitude of Jesus, which was to make Himself of no reputation. ““Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.”‭ (‭Philippians‬ ‭2:5-7‬). For we are to exalt only one just like the Father exalted only one. For is it not the natural order that only the head sits above the entire body? “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”‭‭ (Philippians‬ ‭2:8-11‬)
