A FALSE CHRISTIANITY
The fact that amongst the body there are “false prophets”, and “false teachers”, and “false apostles”, and “false witnesses”, as well as “wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing”, tells that very same body that there is also, therefore, a “false Christianity.” For what else but a sham is a Christianity that has its roots in prophecy and teaching and a witness that is false? Or where its members posture as one thing, when they are actually nothing but ravenous wolves? One cannot have a “true” house if it is built on the pillars of “false witnessing” or “false teaching” or “false apostles” or “false prophecy”. For what else but a counterfeit is the end of a thing that has its origins in duplicity and falsehood?
Besides being a “bogus Christianity”, what else is a meal that is presented unto a trusting community as being “the truth”, being the kind of truth that is “the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God” type of truth, when in fact it is nothing more than “cooked-up teaching”, or a word of knowledge or wisdom that has been packaged as “a word from the very mouth of God”, when in fact, it is nothing more than a word from the well of “the lips of man” or “the pit of divination”? For is it not written that for all those who are true, that “this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words” (1 Corinthians 2:13)?
Do we not also read in Revelation, “I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false” (Revelation 2:2)? If those who are posturing as being legitimate, but have been tested and found to be false are all regarded as wicked, for have we not been instructed to test all spirits to see whether they are from God, what does that then say for a fraudulent Christianity? For it is written, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1).
And if we are expressly told to test all spirits, does this warning not also tell us that we need to be on our guard? And that there is clearly more than one spirit out there? And that we should, therefore, not assume that all those who prophecy or teach all operate from a single spirit. For why else the admonition to test ALL spirits to see that they are from God if there is not more than one spirit? But what is more, if many false prophets have gone out into the world, and that these false prophets are therefore actively operating somewhere, then with this in mind, does it not mention in Luke that a disciple is not above his teacher (Luke 6:40)? What does that then tell us of the kind of disciple a disciple will ultimately amount to who sits under a false teacher? Does this not exhort us to make sure we are following the right teacher, because you can go no further than they do? Or three verses later, that a good tree doesn’t bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit (Luke 6:43)? Does this not also tell us that a disciple (the fruit) will be known by its type of teacher (the tree), for a bad tree cannot bear good fruit?
The fact that false teachers and false prophets and false witnesses and false apostles are a wickedness that exists amongst us tells us that not only is a false Christianity therefore among us, but that a false Christianity is likewise also “alive and well”. And that if it is “alive and well”, then by virtue of it being alive and well, does this not mean that many have then also fallen into its clutches? Otherwise it wouldn’t be alive and kicking? Furthermore, is it not written that the testimony of Christ is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10)? Therefore, if to bear witness to Christ, which by definition is in itself and of itself to bear “true witness”, is the spirit of prophecy, then out of what spirit does a false witness then operate? And what then is false testimony bearing witness to? For it is not Jesus. For if it is a false witness, then it is most certainly not out of the spirit of prophecy that it is operating. For does the LORD Himself not also say, “My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD” (Ezekiel 13:9)? Does this in any way suggest that the LORD looks lightly on this? And if He doesn’t, how good can it then be for us to sit under any such as these?
Does this not tell us all that if a fruit is determined by the tree from which is comes, then if the greatest teacher of all says, “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be LIKE his teacher” (Luke 6:40), then is this not a direct invitation to sit at the feet of the greatest of all teachers, just like Mary did, which is to choose the one thing that will never be taken from us, that we may be LIKE Him? Doesn’t that same teacher also plainly say that ONLY ONE THING is needful, and that is that we sit at His feet, which is to then not sit at the feet of another? “But few things are needed--or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:42). Is it not also written, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you?” (John 14:26). Is it not also written that the Holy Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit? (Romans 8:16). Why then would anyone not want to be taught by the greatest teacher, the greatest prophet, the greatest apostle, the greatest evangelist? For is it not true that everything produces after its own kind?
The alternative is to run the risk of sitting under one of the many false prophets that we authoritatively know have already gone out into the world. Which is to sit under the wicked. For is not a false Christianity the false doctrine of the sons of the evil one? Which is the false doctrine of the wicked? For does not a false Christianity scatter rather than gather? And is it not written that whoever does not gather scatters? And that who is not with Me is against me? (Luke 11:23). So therefore, are those who scatter rather than gather then not only those who are not with Him, but then also those who are thus with the evil one? For this we know, that “This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God's child?” (1 John 3:10). And we know that it is right to gather and not scatter. And that it is not right to scatter and not gather.
With that being said, one of the leading indicators of the season and times we are in, and of a house that has fallen prey to one of the many false prophets that are out there, and of a house that appears to be gathering for many are running to it, but in spirit and truth is actually scattering, being a house that therefore is clearly not with Him, is the house that is preaching a prosperity gospel. And for those who sit under the teaching and leadership of those who preach a prosperity gospel, I would counsel you to run. For what does the prosperity gospel teach besides feeding the appetites of the soul? And what else but the flesh is the soul? For is it not true that if God’s Word tells us clearly that we are to all “lay down our lives”, which is to “die to the lusts of the flesh” (the soul), what then but a false Christianity is it to teach man to not only come alive to the soul, but to actively feed its desires and to pursue its appetites? Anything that teaches anyone anything other than hallowing His name, and His kingdom, and His will, is a false Christianity. Anything that doesn’t adhere to the peremptory edict of seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness is teaching a false Christianity. For if a prophet or apostle is teaching the flock to seek first wealth and comfort and prosperity, which is the complete opposite of presenting yourself as a living sacrifice, but is rather preaching man to pant after all that will feed his soul, which is effectively teaching that same man to place his trust and meaning in wealth, how is teaching anyone to seek wealth teaching someone to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, or to place your trust in God and God alone? How is this teaching man to lay down his life as a living sacrifice? In fact, this false doctrine is teaching the exact opposite. It is teaching man to sacrifice nothing of himself, but to instead sacrifice the very thing our salvation depends upon, which is seeking first the kingdom and His righteousness. And if any teacher is placing our salvation in jeopardy, how is that a true Christianity?
For if Jesus is the way and truth and the life, then if the way that we are taught to follow doesn’t lead to the truth, then what does that then mean in terms of finding life? For there IS a way that leads unto life. And of this way, Isaiah tells us that “it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way.” (Isaiah 35:8). And at the same time, in compete contrast, it is also written that “There is a way that APPEARS to be right, but in the end it leads to DEATH.” (Proverbs 14:12). The false Christianity that pervades the halls of the house of false teachers and prophets is to teach man to pray for “possessions”. It teaches man to pray for “comfortable things”. It’s to pray for “prosperity and wealth”. At one time, these things would have been added to us if our hearts were His. But now, through the prosperity gospel, we hold our heart as a ransom for things. We put conditions on our giving God our heart on whether He will first bless us with material things, not spiritual things. And when He doesn’t, we end up denying and denouncing God, and declaring that God is not real all because He doesn’t give us our childish demands first. And why would He if they are not for our good? For does it not say, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:3)? We are like every petulant child in a shopping mall who is dragged out kicking and screaming when their parents say no. For what else but a false Christianity is a Christianity that would place a mandate of conditions on God for the right to our heart when we have a Father who freely gives of His own heart? How is it possible that a Christianity can be promoted where the child tells the father what the rules of the house are? The same collapse of the family home we see all about us today because the child has usurped the role of the parent is what we see in the false Christianity that fills the house of the LORD today where the child tells the Father give to me first and then I will love you. If such an attitude would be offensive to an earthly father, why then should it not be offensive to our heavenly Father? That’s like telling God to sit at OUR feet, and to wait on US, and if we should so deign or condescend to give of ourselves to Him, such a gesture is at the ransom of getting first all that the false prosperity gospel would have us demand. Which is everything that is not for our good. And everything that is for our ill.
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." MATTHEW 6:33. False Christianity is when we teach others to reverse the order of MATTHEW 6:33, which is to seek first for all these things to be added and only then seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
But if we are all doing our job, whether as the body or as prophets and teachers, we will all be pointing everyone to Jesus, that we may all be found seated at His feet, the greatest teacher and prophet of all, and because of that, we may all be found complete when we are LIKE Him. Which is when we “all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13). Which is when like the sunflower, we all become heliotactic, which is to be forever inclined towards the light of the Son.
And on that day when we become LIKE the light of the Son, it will be said, “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:19-23).
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be all the honour and all the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:17).
