There is a way to love our neighbour.  And how we love our neighbour will determine whether we are "sons of God".

So if all the law is fulfilled in one word, which is to love your neighbour as yourself, the way to love your neighbour is through a lifestyle that expresses, demonstrates and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit, which is a lifestyle that demonstrates love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control towards one’s neighbour. For against such there is no law. For then you shall love in Spirit and in truth (fruit). Because “if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Galatians‬ ‭5:18‬. And if you are led by the Spirit, you shall always produce the fruit of the Spirit. Which is to produce love.

And if we produce the fruit of love, it is by our fruit that we will be known (Matthew 7:15-29). Which is to be sons. “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” Romans 8:14. Which is precisely the pattern and the model of the Firstborn Son who came to fulfill the law. For does the Word of God not say “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” Matthew 5:17. Which was through His lifestyle of demonstrating love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control to all of us His neighbour. For it is by such fruit that He is known. And it is by such fruit that we know that not only is He led by the Spirit, but that He is the Son of God.

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be all the honour and all the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:17).
