THE GREATEST WORK

Of all the many “marvellous miracles” and all the “overwhelming exhibits” of creation on brilliant display throughout the universe and on earth, the greatest work OF ALL will be “the full revelation of God”. For is it not famously said that the best is always saved for last?

And except for a privileged few who have already been subject to an advance showing — such as for Moses in Exodus 34:28-28, and for John in Revelation 1:12-17 — the full revelation of God unto all His own is the great reward of a Father that God has reserved for all of us for the very end. For is it not just like the loving heart of “any father” to want to save the very best for the end?

And when it comes to the patriarchal Father’s own heart, is it not recorded that as far as He is concerned, “better is the end of a matter from it’s beginning”? (Ecclesiastes 7:8). And do we also not read in the sublime treasure that is Isaiah, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please’”? (Isaiah 46:10). For does it not please the Father to save the best for last? And will His purpose in this thus not stand? And will He not make known what is still to come? Which is the full revelation of God? For is this not the essence of the prophecy of Revelation? And does God not look after His every word to perform it? (Jeremiah 1:12).

And is it not written that “the testimony” of Jesus is the “spirit of prophecy”? (Revelation 19:10). For is the testimony of Revelation not “a prophecy” of Jesus revealed? For do we not read, ““I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book””? (Revelation‬ ‭1:10-11‬). And is the trumpet of God not the Spirit of prophecy? For does the LORD our God not blow His wind through the trumpet? For do we not read of this elsewhere in the Bible? “And as the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him in the thunder.” (Exodus 19:19). And is the Lord’s Day not the day upon which He will be revealed in all His fullness?

And is it not true that before the great walls of Jericho were reduced to mere rubble by the mighty hand of God, that the trumpet of the LORD first blew seven times? For will the hand of God not remove every wall that stands between Him and man’s soul so that He may reveal the fullness of God to that man? “On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, "Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!“ (Joshua 6:16-17). Which is the city (tabernacle) of man’s heart. Which establishes a pattern that before the revealing of the might of the great I AM, that the trumpet of God will always blow? For do we not also read of the seven trumpets blowing in Revelation that will then usher in the full revelation of the might of God for all the world to see?

Clearly, then, it is no random coincidence at all that not only has it been saved for the very end, but that the final book of the great testimony of God is the “book of revelation”. Which, as a sovereign statement, simply lets us all know that the very climax of “the testimony of God” ultimately culminates with a “revelation”. For does it not say that John bore witness to the testimony of Jesus? (Revelation 1:2). And does the opening statement of the book of Revelation not declare of this testimony that this is “the revelation” of Jesus Christ? One which God gave Jesus “to show His servants”? And are we not His servants?

And does the precious jewel of “the testimony of Revelation” not promise “a blessing” for all who read and hear the words of this prophecy? “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” (Revelation‬ ‭1:3‬). And is that time not near? And is that blessing not the full revelation of God? For what could possibly be of any greater blessing than the full revelation of our Father unto us? For after all the years of daily seeking His face in faith, is it not fitting that a child should know his Father in all His fullness? Does the sequence and the subject of this final book of the great testimony of God not plainly demonstrate that God has been saving the full revelation of Himself for last?

And are these times not now upon us? For is it not written that when darkness shall increase, so too shall the light? And is it not growing increasingly dark all about us? Is it not darkest just before the first gleam of dawn? And is the first gleam of dawn not the revealing of the morning sun? And is Jesus not “the morning sun”? Which tells us that just before the revealing of the Morning Star, the night sky will be darkest? And will it not be darkest because there will likewise be a full revealing of the son of perdition? For is it not written, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”? (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Having said this, lest we forget, in the same way the book of Revelation has been saved for last, for the full revelation of God has been saved for the very end, the LORD always has the final say. “We may make our plans, but God has the last word.” (Proverbs 16:1). For even though with the full revealing of the son of perdition that darkness shall be darkest, and even though the man of sin may have his own plans, such as with the great darkness of the mark of the beast, where all the sons of the man of sin shall also be fully revealed, the light of the revealing of the Son of God shall shine in that darkness, and the darkness SHALL NOT overcome it (John 1:5). For is it not written, “But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day“? (Proverbs 4:18). And is Jesus not the path of righteousness? And shall He not shine brighter and brighter until the very fullness of day? Which is when He shall be revealed to all in the fullness of all His majestic glory?

For truly God will not only have the final word, but He has truly saved His very best for last.

“And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.” (Isaiah 40:5).
