FROM GLORY TO GLORY
Is the pattern of the sun not a pattern of the model of redemption of the LORD? Is it not a pattern of “the glory” of the Son of God? For does the sun not rise in the east and set in the west? And is this not a type of “from glory to glory”? For is it not written, “For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be?” (Matthew 24:27).
And does the Word of God not likewise say, “The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until the fullness of day?” (Proverbs 4:18). Does this not speak of the process that begins upon the new birth in Christ at the first coming of the Lord upon the spirit of man? Which is when the incorruptible seed of Christ falls to the ground of the spirit of man so that it may produce life and life abundantly? Which is a process that begins as the first glimmer of dawn, being when the first gleam of the light of the regenerated spirit rises upon the dark waters of the unregenerate soul, and says, “Let there be light!”, thereafter progressively and steadily shining ever brighter until the fullness of day.
Which is that moment when the fullness of righteousness has worked its way from the very core of man’s spirit outwards into the surrounding extremities and layers of the soul and body (the flesh) so that THE FULL MAN may be as “the fullness of day”, which is as a perfect man (Ephesians 4:13). So that man may not only have life, but have life abundantly. Which is when we have life not only in “the spirit”, but when we have life in “our soul and body” too. Which is then that we then have life and life abundantly.
For just as corruption begins from the inside at the core, and works its way outwards to the body of the flesh, so too does righteousness begin as the first glimmer of dawn in the spirit of man, working its way outward until the fullness of day has arrived at a measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Which is that blueprint milestone for “all who are called”, being when the whole man may be sanctified “through and through by God”, being that great occasion that all the earth awaits for, which is for the revealing of the sons of God, which is when the whole spirit, soul and body can be presented blameless at the coming of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
For it all begins in Christ. And it all ends in Christ. With both the first coming of Jesus, and with His second coming. Which is the pattern of His model of redemption. Which begins with every man being “without form and void, and darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters”. And because the LORD saw that man (the earth) was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep, the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (man’s spirit), so that such a man may be complete, lacking nothing.
Which, by God’s light, being the path of righteousness, is the pattern of moving from the east, being the process of moving away from the spiritual deadness of the ways of man, which begins with “the sunrise” of Jesus saying, “Awake sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light" (Ephesians 5:14) (for does one not arise from the sleep in the morning?), and which culminates in entering the Promised Land in the west. For when the children of Israel crossed the Jordan river and entered into the Promised Land, it was from the east in the land of Moab towards the west that they travelled. In the same way, entrance into the sacred tabernacle which God commanded the Israelites to build, was through the eastern gate, following a steadfast progression towards the west where the Lord dwelt in the Holy of Holies. Which is also why only the “western wall” of the second temple of David remains standing in Jerusalem today, for it reminds man that whilst man’s ways shall not endure, the ways of God will always remain. Thus, the west speaks of going toward God.
Which is the holy pattern of redemption of “from glory to glory.” “And we all having been unveiled in face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Which is the pattern that first starts as a glimmer of a sunrise in the east, and then moves forever steadily unto the fullness of day, so that in the final analysis, when all is said and done, since God is both the beginning and the end, and the alpha and the omega, God shall always have the final say. Which is with the majestic spectacle of the fullness of the glory of God as a sunset of pure gold in the west.
