A GREAT DARKNESS SHALL SIT ON THE PEOPLE

A great darkness shall sit on the people...

“For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.” — ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭60:2‬ ‬‬

As I was driving earlier today, I was reminded of this scripture, Isaiah 60:2. And as I meditated on the deep darkness covering the people, I realised that as we stand today, a real darkness covers the earth today. Which is the darkness that covers the earth of unbelief and rebellion. But God speaks of two dimensions of darkness. One covering “the earth”, and another deep darkness covering “the people”. And the second one births out of the first. And as I considered the times we are in, whilst the dark that covers the earth is unbelief (a type of blaspheming the Spirit), the deep darkness that covers the people are the deep lengths of falsehood and lies that men will go to, all in order to get one over the next person, to exalt themselves over one another, no matter how brief that moment of false glory may last. As in the election. And then the Lord reminded me of the scripture, “What does it matter if you gain all the world but lose your soul?” (Matthew 16:26).

And on an even grander scale, the deep blanket of darkness covering the people are the great lies that have shrouded the whole world of late — about COVID. This is not to say COVID isn’t real, but there is great deception and misinformation covering the minds and hearts of the people that has been collaborated and perpetrated at the highest levels across many nations, all with a singleness of purpose in mind. And this sits on the people like a deep darkness. For is the TRUTH not “the light”? And by contrast, shall a great LIE not cast a great and “deep darkness” upon the people?

So says the LORD our God...

“I am coming to set right every wrong, to deliver from every bondage, to unseat the people, the principalities and the powers of darkness in high places that abide behind the deception of My people. I am the good Shepherd. And My good name I shall uphold. I shall not let a single one of My sheep fall foul to the snare of the fowler or the trap of the wicked. For before Me proceeds both love and faithfulness, and the foundation of My throne is justice and righteousness. I have come to set the captives free. And free they shall be. Let it be known that I have seen the works of those who distort and deceive. Who twist and who lie. Have I not declared that lying is an abomination to Me? And that those who lie shall not inherit the kingdom of God? And so it shall not go unpunished. For better a man cast a millstone around his neck, and cast himself into the sea, than cause one of My own to stumble.”
