AND THEN WE WERE ONE
PRAYER is the ultimate display of our humility. It acknowledges our weakness before all heaven and earth. Through the evidence of our humility (demonstrated by our turning to the LORD in prayer), our WEAKNESS intersects with the MIGHT of God. And in that exchange, God meets our point of weakness with His strength. "For when I am weak, then I am strong." - 2 CORINTHIANS 12:10.
It is in the bending of our knees, where we "outwardly" declare our weakness, and "internally" yield ourselves up to God, that His word above through Paul becomes true. It is at the convergence of OUR "humility" with HIS "sovereign love", that "greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" becomes the evidence of things hoped for. And then it follows that firstly, through our humility "in praying", we demonstrate that we ARE HIS, and then through "God's strength", He in turn announces us as OVERCOMERS. For "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world." - 1 JOHN 4:4.
PRAYER is where the words "that I speak are SPIRIT, and they are LIFE!" - JOHN 6:63. The words become LIFE by the authority of the spirit of the words that frame them. It is where love EXPRESSED becomes love that DOES. It is also where "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - PHILIPPIANS 4:13. It is where the DNA of our God flows through our spirit, and overcomes all that the world would present in opposition to His life in us.
And we have this great privilege only through the genuine love of a Father for His own children. For it is only through authentic and authoritative love, that a Father places His own heart under the law of that very same love. "God has of His own motion placed Himself under the law of prayer, and has obligated Himself to answer the prayers of men." - E. M. Bounds. And in our prayers, we demonstrate the same love of our Father when we pray for one another. "Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still." E.M. Bounds
