THE BETTER WINE - THE DOOR OF THE TABERNACLE OF MEETING
“Now this IS the law of the Nazirite: When the days of his separation are fulfilled, he shall be brought to the door of the tabernacle of meeting.” (NUMBERS 6:13).
The vow of the Nazarite is a vow of consecration unto the LORD, which is a vow of separating oneself unto the LORD. Which is to present oneself as a burnt offering unto the LORD. Which is different from a sin offering. Whilst a sin offering is for the atonement of trespasses, a burnt offering is a pledge of dedication and consecration unto the LORD, a pledge of separation from the ways and thoughts of the world, and of a joining unto the thoughts and ways and pattern of God. So when man pledges himself unto separating unto the LORD, it is a type of the Nazarite vow where the disciple presents himself as a living sacrifice unto God as a personal pledge and undertaking of holy consecration.
In this lifestyle circumcision, the disciple is separating from the ways of the world unto Christ. He is forgoing the wine and oil of the world for the better wine of the presence of God. In verse 13, it confirms this. “When the days of his separation are fulfilled, he shall be brought to the door of the tabernacle of meeting.” Being brought to the door of the tabernacle of meeting is being brought to the door of the choice wine of meeting with the manifest presence of God. Which is the better wine of entering the tabernacle of meeting.
In order to be brought to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, Numbers 6:12 tells us that we need to consecrate ourselves unto the LORD the days of our separation. “He shall consecrate to the Lord the days of his separation.” In Matthew 5:8, we are told that “Blessed are those who are pure in their hearts, for they shall see God.” Only those who leave by the door of the burnt offering of consecration will enter by the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Only the pure of heart, being those who separate from the wine and oil of the world for the choice wine of the tabernacle of meeting, that they may partake of the better wine of Song of Solomon 1:2, will enter through the door where there will be the full fruition of that which we as the bride long for, and wait for, and live for, as a deer panteth. "Purity of heart" brings with it the power of seeing the manifest presence of He who made the heavens and the earth and everything in it.
The burnt offering of the living sacrifice of the bride of Christ is the consecration of our lives unto the LORD through all the elements of the burnt offering. This begins with the work of the “spotless offering” of the perfect ram of Jesus. At the same time, the “fire on the altar” represents the purification through the Holy Spirit. Thank You for the purifying fire of Your judgement LORD! The “wood burning” represents the cross. The "washing of water" represents the Word being made flesh in us as we separate ourselves unto Him through washing ourselves with His ways and thoughts written on our minds and hearts. Which is a picture of our own death and resurrection in Christ on the altar of the fire that is never to go out. Just like a Nazarite vow. Which is when our lives become a living testimony and prophecy unto Jesus (Revelation 19:10).
In Proverbs, it tells us that, “He who loves pleasure will be a poor man; He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.” (Proverbs 21:17). Those who never separate from the pleasures of the world will never know the richness of the treasure of entering through the door of the tabernacle of meeting. The burnt offering of our living sacrifice is the act of laying down our lives on the altar by letting the outer sheath of the seed of life die (our soul and flesh) so that the seed of Him inside may be released into the earth so that it may produce a harvest. The seed of life deposited at salvation needs to be released from the Hand that provided it so that it may “produce seed for the sower and bread to the eater” (Isaiah 55:8-13; 2 Corinthians 9:10).
When it comes to wine, which is the marriage sacrament of the Bridegroom and His bride and the communion element, the Scriptural emblem of wine, which is intended to be the symbol of the richest earthly joy, has become defiled by the world’s counterfeit for loving pleasure according to the ways and thoughts of man. Which is the counterfeit of separating oneself unto the oil and wine of the world. On the other hand, we are told that, "Your love is better than wine." (Song of Solomon 1:2). There is something better than the pleasure of the wine and oil of the world. The better wine of intimacy with the LORD found through entering the door of the tabernacle of meeting by willingly closing the door on the ways of the world is for the most part an earthly joy lost to man. The “greatest earthly joy” has been replaced by the “vinegar and gall” of the ways of man and the world. “They gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when He had tasted thereof, He would not drink” (Matthew 27:34). The vow of the Nazarite, which is he who consecrates himself unto being pure of heart, that he may see God, is the vow of one who like his Master who refused to drink of the vinegar and gall, chooses instead to drink of the better wine of entering the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
“6 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When either a man or woman consecrates an offering to take the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the Lord, 3 he shall separate himself from wine and similar drink; he shall drink neither vinegar made from wine nor vinegar made from similar drink; neither shall he drink any grape juice, nor eat fresh grapes or raisins. 4 All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, from seed to skin.” (Numbers 6:1-4).
“This is the law of the Nazirite who vows to the Lord the offering for his separation, and besides that, whatever else his hand is able to provide; according to the vow which he takes, so he must do according to the law of his separation.” (Numbers 6:21).
And for those who do separate themselves unto the LORD, the LORD promises to bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you.
“And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” (Numbers 6:22-26).
“God be merciful to us and bless us,
AND cause His face to shine upon us, Selah
That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.” (Psalm 67:1-2).
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be all the honour and all the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:17).
