THE BIBLE: A GATEWAY TO DWELLING
The Bible is more than just words. It is the gateway to dwelling. Which is a gateway to habitation. Which is a gateway to the fullness of intimacy and connection. "These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut." (Revelation 3:7-8). In other words, the Bible is not an end in itself, but rather a seed by which man may enter into Him, and by which He may enter into man. For does the Word not say “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you“? Which is so that man may make his dwelling place in God, and so that God may make His dwelling place in man.
For does the Word not also say that man is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and that the Father’s house has many rooms and that Jesus has gone there to prepare a place for us? Which is so that man may become the habitation of the Presence of God, and that man may enter into the habitation of the Presence of God. Which is so that the Ark of the Covenant may come to dwell in the tabernacle of man’s body, and so that man may come to dwell in the temple of the mountain of the LORD by entering the Ark of the holy of holies through the door of the tabernacle of meeting? (Numbers 6).
For does the Word of God not also say, “in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit”? Which is so that sons of men may be made manifest as the sons of God, and that the Son of Man may be made manifest in the sons of men. For does the Word of God not also say that “If a man loves me, He will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our home with him”? (John 14:23). Which means that if we are faithful as sons, we shall enter the dwelling place of God, just like “Christ was faithful as a Son over His house--whose house we are,” (Hebrews 3:6).
For is it not true that, for long, man has been known to have said that “there is no place like home”? And that Jesus has long said that the Son of Man has no place to lay His head? The Bible is not just a collection of words, but the means to bring man into the intimacy of the habitation of God, and a means to bring God into the intimacy of the habitation of the living city of Jerusalem, whose streets have been paved with the gold of the glory of the manifest Presence of God.
Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be all the honour and all the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Timothy 1:17).
