A QUORUM OF TWO
In Ephesians 1:17, our thoughts are brought face-to-face with the confluence of the two active anchors that work side-by-side to coalesce and converge into the fullness that is the immeasurable treasure of the knowledge of God.
For when God describes Himself — so that we may know Him fully — does He not speak of Himself as a quorum of two? Does He not frame His identity in the book of Genesis as “the Alpha and the Omega”? And in the book of Revelation as “the beginning and the end”? And is the Word of God itself not framed with Genesis “in the beginning” and with Revelation “in the end”?
In Ephesians 1:17, Paul declares that he never stops praying “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom AND of revelation in the knowledge of him”. And do we not read in Amos: “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Amos 3:3. Where 3:3 is a perfect quorum of two? Being the “perfect knowledge of wisdom” (3) made whole and complete by being paired with the “perfect knowledge of revelation” (3).
And is the Spirit of wisdom not the applied knowledge of Him which has ALREADY been revealed? Which is that which has been made known in “the beginning”? And is the Spirit of revelation not the new knowledge that is YET to be revealed, which God shall add to and build upon our already prior knowledge of Him? Which is that which shall be made known in “the end”?
For does Isaiah not tell us that the pattern of coming into the fullness of the knowledge of God is a process of adding precept upon precept, line upon line? “For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.” Isaiah 28:10. For is this not how the New Jerusalem is being built? Brick upon brick, here a little, there a little? And is this not a pattern that shall continue until we all come into “the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a complete man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ”? Ephesians 4:13.
For is it not said of “wisdom” that “Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Proverbs 24:3-4. And was it not through the revelation of the Spirit that David spoke when he said: “For You, O LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have made a revelation to Your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house'” 2 Samuel 7:27. Which is a house built through wisdom and revelation.
And when it comes to “revelation”, does revelation not come by the Spirit too? For is it not written: “You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them, Your manna You did not withhold from their mouth, and You gave them water for their thirst.” Nehemiah 9:20. And that: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things” John 14:26.
For when it comes to wisdom and revelation, being “the depths of God”, being the hidden wisdom that God ordained before the ages for our glory, is it not said of this wisdom and revelation that it will be revealed to us by the Spirit who searches all things? “For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:10.
Which, for all those who pursue wisdom and revelation, is to be changed from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit, one precept at a time, from “the glory” of wisdom to “the glory” of revelation, by a quorum of two. “And we all having been unveiled in face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18.
For has the LORD our God not established a covenant with us, that “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know”? Jeremiah 33:3. Where the essential nature of "revelation” is the communication of new truth (divine revelation). That we can add knowledge to knowledge until all the rooms of our house are FILLED to overflowing with precious and pleasant treasures.
For God gives it unto us not simply that it may be discussed and debated, but so that by the Spirit of wisdom AND of revelation, we may all truly come into the fullness of the knowledge of Him unto a complete man.
