KINGDOM ROADBLOCKS
The pathway to the Kingdom is through "the heart". The LORD says that we are to keep our hearts "with all diligence", for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). The heart is also what the LORD looks to when He measures a man (Proverbs 21:2). He also encourages us to have pure hearts, because only the pure in heart will "see God". So the heart is key to the Kingdom. The LORD chose David as King of Isreal not because of his appearance, but because of his heart. (1 Samuel 16:7). One reason He looks unto the heart, in particular, is because the heart, and its prevailing condition, have to do with the 'ROADBLOCKS TO THE KINGDOM". Here are some of the other MANY GOOD REASONS the LORD does this.
1. Looking at a person's heart reveals to the LORD where our treasure is (namely, what is important or dear to us), since "where your treasure is, there your heart also is." (Matthew 6:21)
2. It also allows the LORD to distinguish between the thoughts and intents (motives) of a person. Namely a pure heart or not. (Hebrews 4:12)
3. It also, very importantly, identifies the nature of man, since "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7)
In the gospel of Luke, the Pharisees asked the LORD when the Kingdom of God would come, and He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20-21). So if the Kingdom is within you, then, SO TOO, are the roadblocks to the Kingdom logically within you too.
And many of these roadblocks go back to the "as a man thinketh in his heart" point above. These roadblocks are the many "UN" words, or words beginning with, or prepended with the prefix "UN", that man thinketh in his heart. These are words such as UNforgiveness, UNbelief, UNwillingness, being UNsurrendered, UNavailable, UNanswerable, UNrepentent. These words define and describe the condition of heart, and act to BLOCK the "flow" of Kingdom of God in you. They are roadblocks, within you, to the very heart of the kingdom. UNrepentance is a chief one. "Repent, for the Kingdom is at hand." (Matthew 3:2). God's kingdom comes through repentance. And in the case of an UNrepentant heart, the kingdom remains inaccessable and unavailable. All these "UN" words keep us UNable to receive His blessing and provisions. They also contribute to our prayers being UNheard. They definitely ensure that His ways and His will remain UNknown.
And speaking of praying, whilst all of these UNwords block the "FLOW" of the Kingdom, one of the biggest roadblocks to the "ESTABLISHMENT" of the Kingdom, is the absence or lack of prayer. Prayer ushers in and establishes His Kingdom, in you. Yet a further UNdoing to establishing His Kingdom is also not reading His Word. His Word IS His Kingdom. The Word is living. And because it is alive, when we read it, His Word not only brings the Kingdom alive in us, but it also defines the lines of longitude and latitude, being the depth and the breadth of His Kingdom within us. But most importantly, without praying and reading His word, which bring us into all understanding and revelation, His Kingdom remains largely UNknown and UNchartered, and also mostly misUNderstood.
That's why the LORD says, one the one hand, "pray without ceasing", (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18), and on the other hand, "let not the book of the law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do all that is written in it". (Joshua 1:8). These two spiritual operations form the very boundary lines and the precise co-ordinates for His kingdom domain within you.
And together with an UNhindered heart and the potter's hand of Jeshua Himself, the magnificent contours, horizon, storehouse and inheritance of His heartland, then, also become your most holy treasure and hallowed sanctuary.
